I thought that all the projects in the class was interesting. I was very surprised that HIV/AIDS could not be cured, but only slowed. I did hear that there were survivers from it before, but now I know it was just from luck and medications. I liked the iMovie presentations best because the people didn’t have to speak much and I prefer reading the page then listening to it being told.
I think that an improvement would have been to have made an iMovie instead. We had missed some important info and a whole page because the Wiki functioned by pages instead of slides. The scroller/clicker also didn’t know this, so they didn’t click on the pages needed. We could have also told the scroller/clicker to click on certain pages that were important.

Question #7: Do I think that the U.N. is very successful? Why or why not?
No, I do not think that the U.N is very successful. They have succeeded in seperating North and South Korea, but from the article we read, that was pretty much it. The organization had many failures. They even have people who have killed others to find a gang. They have shown up on sites trying to solve the problem, but the jobs haven’t really been completed. From what I see, they have not been very successful, but the future may hold something new, so don’t lose hope!

What do you think? Look on websites, newspaper articles, and whatever else you can find about the U.N. and comment my post.

Writer of Current Event: Katie
Katie’s Blog
How are your two events connected?
Our two events are connected because both issues have been caused by nature. In Katie’s article, a lightning bolt caused the issue, and in mine, a landslide did. There was also no confirmation of deaths in either article.
What did you find interesting about the topic?
I found that the lightning bolt, out of anywhere it could strike, hit an oil plant in Oklahoma with huge barrels of oil made every day was interesting. I mean, what were the chances? I also found that it taking an entire night to blow out this fire was interesting. I wonder how many barrels fueled the flames and what will happen to the owner of the plant.
What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I think Katie’s posting was good, but the citation should be in the proper format. I think she got a good picture and had more than enough info to keep the presentation interesting. When she presented it, I could also hear it, and had the visual aid of the picture. Overall, Katie did a good job.

I thought that our class presented all our speeches very well today. We all had wonderful costumes and loud and clear. I thought that all the speeches were interesting and I had a good time. It was interesting to hear that Hatshetsup had taken the throne from Thutmose III when he was still too young to claim it. I do not think I could really make my speech any better, but my costume has room to improve. I thought that the best costume belonged to Nick (Set). He used a lot of expressions and had a colorful costume too. I thought that we learned a lot this class, and hope to learn more about Egyptian gods and pharoahs, because they are very interesting.

HORUS SPEECH
I am the god of the sky; my eyes are the sun and the moon. I have come in two forms, one as the son of Ra and Hathor and another as son of Osiris and Isis. I arose many stories, most known was me having the sun and moon as my eyes and stars as my feathers, as I sailed across the night sky. I have been worshipped by many and I had my revenge on my father’s death. I am almighty Horus, never to be forgotten.
As Horus, son of Isis, I had to live a life hiding from my dreaded uncle, Set. He killed my father, Osiris, changing my life forevermore. I was born in Khemmis in the Nile Delta, hiding in marshes to protect myself against Set. Since I have two forms, when I was born is never clear. This is the life I had to live as a child.
As Horus the Elder, son of Ra, I am one of the oldest and most well-known gods worshipped in Egypt. Soon, I was also associated with the Osiris Isis myth. I also only ruled under Ra himself. I had also had a gigantic battle against Set, which lasted eighty-four years. I was indeed a very important god.
I had a very big impact on all Egyptians around me. The war with Set was associated with an eighty-four year war with Upper and Lower Egypt. My left eye, known as the Eye of Horus, was found in the 12th layer of King Tutankhamen’s mummy wrapping. It was also thought that after I died, I was reborn as Egypt’s pharaoh. I was worshipped throughout Egypt and was very important for Egyptian prayers, hopes, and afterlife.
I think that it is good for Egyptians to think of me so greatly, but I feel that it does not make sense for me to have two forms. I feel that I have done my job as a god, ruled well, and allowed my father to rule the underworld. I had a big role on Egyptians all around me, and will forever be remembered.

What is the issue?
The issue is that a landslide sent buildings toppling into the ocean. Concern went around to four other houses at the clifftop, which might still be in trouble if the clifftop is unstable. So the people in the houses decide to pack up and move out, thinking that it is better safe than sorry. the landslide also blocked out a road, forcing them to build a new road.
Who is involved?
>The owners of the houses; toppled or not
Who is affected and how?
The owners of the toppled houses, because they could not save their possessions when their house toppled and lives might have been trapped in the houses. They also have to pay for new houses. The owners of the houses that are still on the clifftop are also affected because now they have to move out and buy new houses too.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved, I would find out what caused the landslide, and prevent future ones. If the landslide was caused by loosening of the rocks by heat, I would make sure people would keep the air misty and moistured. I would also clear up the roadblock by the cliffs so that people could go on with their normal routes to their work and assignments.

Writer of Current Event: Mei Huii
Mei Huii’s Blog
What new information has emerged?
The new information that emerged was that from 1990 to 2100, temperatures are likely to rise up from 1.1 to 6.4 degrees Celsius (2 to 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit). Results from global warming do not only include floods, but also droughts, heat waves, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Mei Huii is also right that glaciers and ice caps will melt. Some species of animals might also be extinct because of it!
What did you find interesting about this topic?
I found that it was interesting to know that global warming was unpreventable. And also because of people not knowing that pollution was destroying the ozone layer, now it is weakened to a point that global warming is becoming serious. It was also interesting to know that there was a fuel that ran on vegetables (if that is even true)! I also think that if global warming was to continue, everyone would be involved and affected was interesting.
What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I liked what Mei Huii wrote under “What you would do if you were directly involved?”, because I could see that Mei Huii really thought about what to write. I think if presidents and governors would read that part of her Current Event and put money aside for a moment, just for trucks to be replaced yearly and for the switch from petrol to vegetable fuel, global warming could be postponed for quite a while. I also liked the fact that when Mei Huii answered questions, she was ready to answer them. I think Mei Huii did a great job on her Current Event.

Source for maps: Lebanon & London
What is the issue?
The issue is that there have been deadly bus bombings in Lebanon, and Margaret Beckett condemns it, saying they were targeted to heighten tension. The blasts ripped through two buses, killing three people. This happened while the nation was preparing to serve a memorial for Rafiq Hariri, who died 2 years ago. Beckett thinks that the bombing was commited because of this memorial. This event was a latest event blamed on former powerbroker Hariri.
Who is involved?
> Rafiq Hariri
> Margaret Beckett
> The three people who died
> The three people who died’s families
> The people who planted the bomb
Who is affected and how?
Rafiq Hariri is affected because his memorial was what caused the bombers to plant the bomb. He is also being blamed for this. Margaret Beckett is affected because she is the person who condemned the bus explosions. The three people who died are affected because they lost their lives in the explosion. Their families are also affected because they had lost a loved one and will deeply miss them. The bombers are affected because they are the ones who exploded the two buses and caused the entire problem.
What would you do if you were directly involved?
If I was directly involved, I would call a search team to try to find the bombers with any clues found. I would also ask the people of Lebanon to continue their memorial, because the bombers were just trying to scare them into not performing it. I would also ask police forces to patrol areas, buses, and any other vehicle that might hold bombs.

First Q*: What would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again?
I don’t think I would really need to change the final product of my wiki. I think it is already awesome, but not perfect. I also think the homepage is wonderful, no real change needed. What I would have done was make a ‘Background Information’ page like most of the other groups did. I would put information about Mansa Musa, Sundiata Keita, just things on a need to know basis. Other than that, I think an awesome job was done on the wiki. Thumbs up to everyone!
Second Q*: Look at some of the other wikis from any class and find a few that you think are done exceptionally well. Tell me the name of the empire and the block, and then explain what you like about their wiki.
I think the Swahili Trading States of Block E did a great job. I liked the fact that they could make the wiki sound funny and filled with voice. They did a good job in writing down all the information but some of the pages need a backtrack to the homepage or links to the other pages. I could tell they used their time effectively because of the overload of information! Also font was used to make the wiki better. I think buttons could be used for more color and decoration, but overall, no change is needed. I must compliment their work and would like to say good job!
If you want to visit the wiki our block made click here!
